The APPT membership has donated more than $16,000 toward lobbying efforts. APPT was successful in getting two legislative bills introduced -- after having only six weeks to find and hire a lobbyist, draft the bills, and sign up legislative sponsors. One bill supported by APPT requires insurance companies to pay for mental health services provided by any type of licensed mental health practitioner for indemnity insurance policies.
As the association progresses, additional items of interest in the state government will come to fruition. In those instances, APPT will seek to find the best path to represent member interests. This may include uniting with other mental health organizations in the state and pooling resources to more effectively lobby legislators. |
